March 8th 2011
We are just outside Athens and waiting for the winds to calm down and for the threats of snow to pass so that we will be allowed to get on a boat to Crete. We were supposed to leave tonight but the ferry has been cancelled. Fortunately we are with our previous couch surfing hosts George and Christina in Marathonas and have a cosy place to stay in these artic conditions (although it was 17 degrees the other day). Climatic madness!

27th december--Merry christmas and happy new year! hope everyone is ok in the UK and that the weather turns warmer soon. All is well here in Spain and we are enjoying hosting Anthonys parents. They have kindly hired a car for us all to explore south spain.

10th December - we arrived in Spain ok (just missed the strikes) and spent a week in madrid. I know i will get no sympathy (due to weather back home)if i say it was cold, but we weren't expecting 6 degrees! Now we are in our appartment in Torrevieja and it's 23 degrees and sunny (please don't hate us!).

27th nov -We're in marathonas just outside Athens. Apparently a soldier ran from here to Athens (26 miles)to deliver news that the Athenians had won the war, and hence the "marathon" was born! We're couch surfing with George and Christina, their 2 dogs and 15 cats and rabbit (thanks guys!) and will be going to Athens tomorrow. Its still sunny and warm :)
